There’s nothing quite like visiting Yosemite National Park in the winter. Covered with snow, the awesome natural settings of the park take on a new life that leaves travelers awestruck with its winter beauty. Despite the fact that some roads leading to popular attractions are closed during the winter, there’s still plenty to do and see in Yosemite during the winter months.
Ski at Badger Pass
Cross country, or downhill skiing is a popular activity in Yosemite from about mid-December to late March at Badger Pass. Simply take Highway 41 to Glacier Point Road. Cross country skiing is also fun to do in the Yosemite Valley from December to late February. Ski equipment and rentals are available in both Yosemite Valley and at Badger Pass.
Badger Pass is a full service ski resort offering 90 miles of marked trailes and 25 miles of machine groomed track. Cross-country overnight excusions are available to Glacier Point and the Yosemite back country. The resort offers ski and snowboarding instruction, rental equipment, a ski shop, childcare, and a cafeteria and lounge. The ski school also has a learn to ski guarantee, which offers morning or afternoon group lessons, a beginner's lift ticket, and equipment rentals. Skiers can return again and again, until they have fully learned to ski.
